The official blog for the Irmo Okra Strut Festival.
The Irmo Okra Strut Commission is planning the 44th annual Okra Strut Festival. This year’s Festival will be held in the Irmo Community Park on Friday, September 29, and Saturday, September 30, 2017.
The Okra Strut Commission would like to close the following streets for the festival:
These roads will be closed Friday, September 29, 2017, at Noon and re-open on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at approximately 11:30 PM.
The Okra Strut Parade will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2017 and the Commission would like to close St. Andrews Road from Wescott Road to Lake Murray Boulevard from 8:50 AM until approximately 12:00 PM to allow for the Irmo Okra Strut Parade. Gibbes Street and Lexington Avenue will also be closed during these times for parade dispersal.
The Okra Strut Commission will do pre-event publicity, public service announcements, press releases, and provide maps to advise citizens of the road closures and locations for the festival. The Irmo Police Department, along with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, will provide detours and direct traffic during the road closings.
Please check back for more details as we get closer to the festival.
